Meet the Team

My name is Cherie. I am from Columbia, SC. I am single and do not have children. I graduated from the University of South Carolina in 2001 with my Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. After I passed my state licensure exam in 2002, I began working at Palmetto Health on a Medical-Surgical unit working as a Staff Nurse. I stayed in that role for 3 three years. I then transitioned to an Assistant Nurse Manager role on the same unit. I worked in this role for ten years. During the time that I was an Assistant Nurse Manager, I made the decision to further my education.

I obtained my Master’s in Health Administration to learn more about the business side of healthcare in 2010. In 2012, I obtained my Master of Nursing degree in Leadership and Management. Once completing my two master’s degrees, I transitioned to a staff development role of Nursing Education Specialist. I assisted in staff development and training and worked with organizational leaders in system projects.

While working in this role, I decided to become an adjunct nursing instructor. I accepted an adjunct position with Midlands Technical College and South University. For my role as adjunct nursing instructor, I mentor and develop nursing skills for students in the hospital setting. In 2017 I furthered my nursing education by obtaining a Post Graduate Certificate as a Family Nurse Practitioner from South University. I am certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. I currently work with South Carolina House Calls as a Primary Care Provider serving the population of South Carolina.

I attend New Covenant Assembly Christian Ministry. I have been a proud member of my church since 1999. I serve on the Health Ministry as a faithful and dedicated leader. I am also an advocate in my community by being a member of Chi Eta Phi Nursing Sorority Delta Eta Chapter and National Coalition of 100 Black Women Columbia, SC Chapter.

I grew up in Barranquilla, Colombia. I'm the older sister of two brothers, I love being Latina, and show where I'm from. I came to this country at the age of 17 to live a new life with my family. This adventure has been a mountain of emotions and it has been very difficult to leave everything behind and even change my first language!

I studied at the Universidad de la costa psychology for two years I have been learning English since I was 13 years old. When we arrived in the U.S.A. I was awarded the opportunity to study professional English as a second language .

Upon completion of my studies I accepted an internship that afforded me the opportunity to work for Bella Home Care. Upon completing my internship I was offered a position with Bella Clinical Care, where I am able to utilize my bilingual skills, by providing excellent customer service and assisting the Latin community with comfort and ease of completing and understanding their medical documents, appointment and other various services.
